Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized an educational workshop within the PressStart program, intended for young journalists and civil society activists who strive to fight corruption and abuse of public resources. The workshop, which was held in Banja Luka, brought together enthusiasts in the field of journalism eager to acquire practical knowledge and skills necessary for investigative journalism.

The training included three modules, of which the first module, entitled “Fundamentals of Journalism”, was focused on the basics of the journalistic profession, where experienced lecturers introduced participants to ethical standards, writing techniques and the importance of impartiality in journalism. Discussions and practical exercises enabled participants to develop critical thinking and analytical approach needed for quality journalism.

The second module, which was dedicated to corruption investigation methods, is dedicated to investigative journalism techniques that are crucial for detecting and documenting corruption cases. Through interactive sessions, participants learned how to use publicly available data and how to communicate effectively with information sources.

The last module focused on the use of new technologies in journalism. Tools and platforms are presented that facilitate the collection, analysis and presentation of data. Participants learned how to use social networks and digital platforms to spread their stories and reach a wider audience.

This workshop is a key step in our effort to empower young people to confront corruption and misuse of public funds. Through PressStart, Transparency International is committed to creating an environment where young journalists can freely investigate and share the truth, without fear of censorship or commercial pressures.
