Report on monitoring the trials related to the cases of corrupt criminal offenses

In the period from 15th November 2016 to 15th May 2017. students of the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies together with their colleagues from the Faculty of Law of the Sarajevo University, with the full support of the US Embassy in BiH, followed twelve trials in the cases of corrupt criminal offenses at the Court of BiH and the Cantonal and Municipality Court in Sarajevo.

TI BiH filed to CEC reports against 8 political parties due to the illegal donations

TI BiH has filed reports against SDA, SDP, SBB, HDZ BiH, HDZ 1990, DF, DNS and PDP for receiving donations from legal entities that have concluded contracts with the organs of executive power. The most controversial donations have been found with SDA, which had reported donations from 20 companies that concluded contracts of total value higher than BAM 28 million in 2015 and 2016.

The judiciary in BiH has been constantly declining in regard to the efficiency of corruption prosecution for 8 years now, which is seen in the decreased number of reports, initiated investigations, indictments and convictions for corruption offenses. Almost two-thirds of court decisions refer to the termination of proceedings, and the Court of BiH has delivered only 8 prison sentences in the last 2 years (more…)
