Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) is organizing the TI BiH Academy for Women’s Political Empowerment. As part of two-day lectures and exercises, participants will be able to get acquainted with the topics:

1. 1. Participation and representation of women in politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Lecturer: Elvira Mujkić);
   2. The role of transparency and accountability in contemporary politics (Lecturer: Srdjan Blagovcanin);
   3. Gender and corruption (Lecturer: Boris Divjak).

The first in a series of workshops of the TI BiH Academy was held in East Sarajevo, and in addition to Bijeljina, it will be held in Bihać and Zenica, and the participants will gather once again at the final workshop in Banja Luka.

The main goal of the TI BIH Academy is to strengthen and develop leadership skills among women, with special emphasis on education on transparency, accountability and integrity as key principles for the fight against corruption. The academy is designed to enable participants not only to follow the lectures of leaders in the field, but also to participate interactively through group discussions, activities in small groups and various analyzes.

The selected participants are expected to be dedicated to the topics, to actively participate in the discussions and to write an essay related to one of the topics covered. The best essays will be published in a specially prepared publication.

Terms of participation:

• Participants must be highly motivated to acquire knowledge on topics related to the political empowerment of women, and do not necessarily have to be students of socio-economic sciences;
• Participants are expected to be dedicated, to actively participate in discussions and work, and to read the recommended literature before the start of the TI BIH Academy;
• All participants are required to write a final essay on one of the selected topics in agreement with the lecturers, and the best papers selected by TI BiH will be published in a specially prepared publication;
• Students and high school students who come from marginalized groups will have an advantage in the selection of participants.

Methodology and method of work:

TI BiH Academy will base its work on professional lectures and discussions moderated by lecturers in order to more actively participate in the work. The TI BiH Academy will be organized through an intensive two-day course. All participants will receive literature that they will be required to read in advance, and in each city the participation of 20 participants is planned.

Participation costs:

Participation is free for selected TI BiH Academy students, and is fully covered by Transparency International BiH with the support of the United States Embassy in BiH. Transparency International BiH does not cover possible accommodation costs, as well as travel expenses of participants.
