TI BiH marks the International Right To Know Day

27 September 2016

TI BiH is organizing street events in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, at which they will talk to citizens and give them the opportunity to learn more about their rights and ways in which to demand the information and accountability from the public institutions in BiH

Banja Luka, 27th September 2016 – Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) is organizing a whole set of activities in order to celebrate 28th September, the International Right to Know Day. TI BiH uses this opportunity every year to remind the citizens that they have the right to demand the responsibility and transparency in work of public institutions at all levels, and that these rights are guaranteed by the Law on Free Access to Information.

For this reason, TI BiH will organize street events in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, in order to inform the citizens on their rights and ways to demand and obtain information owned by public institutions, whereupon the citizens will be given the opportunity to prepare direct demands to access the information they need.
Street events will take place on Wednesday, 28th September 2016, from 11.00 to 14.00h in Sarajevo (Ferhadija, in front of Katedrala), Banja Luka (Trg Krajine) and Mostar (Spanski trg).
Due to the International Right to Know Day, TI BiH is also organizing a two-day regional conference in Sarajevo and Banja Luka. Conference in Sarajevo, entitled „Access to Information and Open Data“ is organized by TI BIH on 28th September 2016, at the Hotel Holiday Inn, at 10.30h. Second day of the conference will be held in Banja Luka, under the title „Corruption, media and censorship in the Western Balkans“ at the Hotel Bosna, beginning at 11.00h.
TI BiH invites the media to attend street events and the Conference and thus contribute to the activities aimed at increasing the transparency of BiH institutions.
