„Press start“ aims to empower young people, students, and activists by providing educational activities, practical experience, knowledge, and resources necessary to engage in independent investigative journalism focused on uncovering corruption and the misuse of public resources. Additionally, the project seeks to enable the creation of web portals and social media channels for disseminating adaptable and engaging content.
Project activities:
The project consists of four phases:
Phase I – Preparatory activities
Phase II – Education and training, that will be conducted through three modules:
- Foundations of journalism
- New technologies
- Corruption research
Phase III – Participants are guided through three practical workshops to:
- Form newsrooms
- Create a web portal
- Develop a media strategy
Phase IV – Participants will have three months for newsrooms to create and publish investigative journalism stories based on approved topics.

- Delivered trainings on the respective topics
- Delivered workshops on the respective topics.
- Increased youth journalists’ capacities and strengthened skills
- Increased standards of investigative journalism based on verifiable, grounded and relevant data, but also research and use of new approaches and communication channels such as social networks and direct reporting
