Banja Luka, 26. September 2020 – On the occasion of the International Day of Freedom of Access to Information, Transparency International in BiH (TI BiH) is organizing a media conference where it will present the results of research on the transparency of the work of public institutions and public companies, as well as an assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on access to information of public importance.

During 2020, TI BiH conducted research on the availability of public information in public companies and public institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On several occasions, the target group of the research was public companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so this year the results were compared with those from previous years in order to draw a conclusion as to whether progress has been made in the application of the Law on Freedom of Access to Information.

At the conference, TI BiH will also present recommendations for improving the legislative framework in the area of access to information, as well as cases in which examples of non-transparency in the circumstances of the epidemic have been recorded. How much has the COVID-19 epidemic slowed down the work of institutions, and is it used as an excuse for not providing information of public importance?

The conference will be held in Monday 28.09.2020. at 11 a.m. in Hotel Bosna (Piano bar hall) in Banja Luka.
