TI BiH organizes a presentation of the research entitled “Sextortion – Covert Corruption – Case Study of Bosnia and Herzegovina”

Sarajevo, December 6, 2021 – Transparency International in BiH (TI BiH) is organizing a presentation of a research entitled “Sextortion – Covert Corruption – A Case Study of Bosnia and Herzegovina” as part of the Anti-Corruption Week.

TI BiH, as a continuation of the research on exposure and sensitivity to corruption in relation to gender, performed an analysis of cases of “sextortion”, ie. links between corruption and sexual harassment. A comprehensive analysis of the legislative and institutional framework in BiH and Europe, statistics from the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH, court judgments and data on reports of corruption and sexual abuse at public universities in BiH has been made.

The results and findings of this unique study are summarized in the publication “Sextortion – Covert Corruption – A Case Study of Bosnia and Herzegovina”. The publication is the only one so far to present specific cases of sextortion, deal with issues from the moral, social and legal side, and offer legal and institutional solutions to combat the problem.

The presentation will bring together representatives of civil society, the judiciary, public institutions and experts on gender and corruption and provide an opportunity to put “sextortion” in the spotlight and raise the world of relevant public institutions and citizens on this particular form of anti-corruption corruption. corruption. The presentation of the research findings will be followed by a panel discussion that will focus on the following steps and actions necessary to address the phenomenon of “sextortion” and provide a remedy for all victims of this corrupt act.

The presentation will be held at the Hotel Europa in Sarajevo (Vladislava Skarića 5), December 7, 2021. starting at 10:45 p.m. Statements for the media are scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
