A two-day workshop for media and NGO representatives on “Recognizing, Understanding and Eradicating Sextortion” organized by Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) with the financial support of Sweden in Vitez is underway.
In addition to presenting the findings of the research “Sextortion – Covert Corruption – BiH Case Study”, the workshop provides insight into the current legislative framework and necessary improvements in legal framework and practice to more effectively combat this phenomenon, which is relatively unrecognizable in BiH society.
The workshop aims to introduce participants to secondary victimization as one of the negative social reactions to primary victimization, where a person suffers further damage due to the way institutions, media and individuals act when it comes to sextortion.
The workshop includes representatives of the judiciary, the media, the NGO sector, civil society and gender and corruption experts, and provides an opportunity to bring sextortion to the forefront and raise awareness of this particular form of corruption.
