Transparency International in BiH (TI BiH) is organizing a regional conference „Access to Information and Open Data“ which will be a place at which discussions about the right to access the information in BiH and region, as well as the open data as the concept of publicly available data, will take place.

Banja Luka, 27th September 2016 — Transparency International in BiH (TI BiH) is organizing a regional conference „Access to Information and Open Data“ which will be a place at which discussions about the right to access the information in BiH and region, as well as the open data as the concept of publicly available data, will take place.

The Law on Free Access to Information has been applying for more than 15 years in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the notion open data is still rarely used by the public. Institutional and legal framework in the field of access to information of public importance have been different in the countries in the region, and the conference will be a unique opportunity to compare various experiences and open discussion on the most effective protection model. TI BiH will use this opportunity to preliminary present results of its research on transparency in the work of public enterprises in regard to the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information.

The conference attendees are representatives of the relevant institutions and organizations of civil society from the country and the region. Some of the attendees are Stanojla Dragic, Deputy Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Serbia, and Cveta Trajkovska on behalf of the Commission for Protection of the Right to Access the Information of Republic of Macedonia.

Conference will be held on 28th September 2016 at the Hotel Holiday Inn in Sarajevo (Zmaj od Bosne 4) with the beginning at 10.30h, and the press conference will take place at 10.00h. The agenda is attached here.
