Report on the implementation of the Freedom of Access to Information Act in 2021

28 September 2021

Free access to information is considered one of the preconditions for responsible and transparent work of public authorities. The active participation of citizens in political processes, and the quality of their participation, directly depends on how familiar citizens are with information of public importance. Most of such information is in the possession of state bodies or public institutions that are under their direct control, and therefore its disclosure is a desirable process on which public administration depends and the democratization of the decision-making process. Familiarity with relevant data is crucial for understanding the work of institutions, and in this context, today it is not possible to imagine quality participation in political decision-making processes, if there is no information and insight into the work of public institutions. In the first nine months of the current year, Transparency International BiH conducted three surveys in which it monitored the implementation of the Law on Freedom of Access to Information at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.[caption id="attachment_17963" align="alignnone" width="490" class="align"]thumbnail Report on the implementation of the Freedom of Access to Information Act in 2021[/caption]
