Accountability platform

Implementing Partner: Association for the Fight Against Corruption “Transparency International” in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Coordinator), Balkan Investigative Reporting Network Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH), Association of citizen “Zašto ne (Why not)” (partners)

Main objectives :

  • To ensure support for anti-corruption reforms and improvements of integrity mechanisms by providing relevant proposals, transparent consultations on necessary solutions and dialogue with and between all relevant actors, including citizens;
  • Contribute to strengthening the accountability through active civil society monitoring of institutions, public officials and political parties;
  • Articulate citizen demands, through open dialogue with decision-makers, and holding institutions and officials to account through informing citizens on corruption risks and relevant aspects of the work governments, officials and political parties.

Activities:

  1. Active civil society monitoring – focused thematic monitoring of corruption risks on the level of institutions/governments, officials and political parties;
  2. Policy development and advocacy
  3. Acting towards relevant institutions based on identified irregularities
  4. Capacity building and support to civil society groups to effectively engage in monitoring local governments and identify corruption risks, resulting in creating an “accountability network”;
  5. Citizen empowerment to articulate demands towards decision-makers and political parties towards anti-corruption reforms, through making available all relevant information on political and institutional processes, records and performances of political parties and officials, citizen education to empower them to recognize and report corruption, but also demand accountability of public officials and irregularities.

Expected outputs:

  • Joint online “accountability platform“ with results of monitoring and cross-referenced data on governments, political parties and officials that identifies corruption risks;
  • 5+ policy proposals for improvement of legal and institutional anti-corruption framework;
  • 5+ open debates between citizens and decision-makers and 10 interviews/statements/video materials in AC issues with decision-makers;
  • Up to 5 CSOs supported to monitor local governments and public officials;
  • Up to 20 CSOs trained to undertake anti-corruption monitoring and advocacy;
  • 50+ reports/corruption cases identified and reported to authorities based on CSO monitoring and citizen reports.
