Prevention of Corruption at the Local Level

Fighting corruption is one of the biggest challenges of public administration, including local self-government units, and corruption is prevented through the implementation of preventive and repressive measures.

Prevention aims to prevent the emergence of corrupt phenomena, and one of the most significant ways to reduce the scope of corruption is to discover and remove the causes, that is, the risks of corruption.

In the last few years, Transparency International in BiH has been carrying out activities related to the prevention of corruption and the strengthening of integrity at the local level. 10 comprehensive analyzes of the state of integrity system in 10 units of local self-government in BiH were made.

In addition, Transparency International in BiH provides constant support to local self-government units in BiH in strengthening capacities and preventing corruption at the local level. Over 150 employees in more than 30 units of local self-government in Bosnia and Herzegovina went through a series of workshops and training sessions on prevention of corruption at the local level, and were trained to develop and implement integrity plans.
