Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovine (TI BiH) appeals to Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of Federation of BiH, mr. Vahid Heco, to reveal a mystery about financing of the campaign  “Nije kasno za bolji život” (“Not late for better life”), that was made in cooperation between Elektroprivreda BiH and Ministry below mr. Hećo.

TI BiH already warned the public that mentioned campaign was used for a promotion of political party Stranka za BiH, and that Elektroprivreda BiH claims that this company did not take part in this campaign, nor finance it. Ministry did not even answer to inquiry of TI BiH who financed and carried out this campaign. At the same time, Prime Minister of Federation of BiH, Mustafa Mujezinović, claims that Government did not approve or finance the mentioned campaign, while Mr. Heco in his reaction to TI BiH press release, expressed pride about the fact that campaign is related to Stranka za BiH’s successes, and on the other hand, also claimed that “not a single convertible mark was spent out of federal budget for the campaign promoting energy projects”.

Considering this contradictory statements and the fact that, again, it was not explained what was the source of financing the campaign, TI BiH considers that Mr. Heco owes explanation to citizens about:

  • who is responsible for financing the Elektroprivreda campaign,
  • how much was spent, and
  • which agency, and in which way, was chosen to create and carry out the campaign.

Also, TI BiH invites mr. Hećo to give the explanation why hasn’t Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry answered to this organization’s inquiry in a legal limit and therefore broke the Law on freedom of access to information.

TI BiH, as previously announced, will use all the legal remedies to get insight into contract on implementation of the campaign, in the attempt to inform citizens completely about the way their money is being spent, even though the information is being denied.
