After Tuzla and Zenica, TI BiH establishes cooperation with the University of Sarajevo

Sarajevo, September 21, 2011. – Having established the cooperation with the University of Zenica and the University of Tuzla, Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH ) will sign the Memorandum of Cooperation with the University of Sarajevo. By this document, TI BiH and Sarajevo University will define the mechanisms and ways of cooperation in the field of prevention and fight against corruption, as well as ensuring integrity and quality in higher education.

In this way, the University of Sarajevo will be another one in a range of public universities that will commit to more active engagement in the prevention of corruption in higher education through the adoption of anti-corruption plans at universities, in cooperation with TI BiH. Realization of cooperation with universities in BiH is a part of the activities of TI BiH aimed at defining the causes of corruption in higher education and their elimination through a strategic approach and application of pre-defined measures and anti-corruption plans.

The cooperation between TI BiH and the University of Sarajevo will be carried out through the realization in research, participation in educational workshops, primarily in the creation and adoption of plans of integrity and anti-corruption measures at the University. The same framework of cooperation will be established with other public universities as well, hoping that the anti-corruption plans, which are to be adopted in future, will bring the expected results.

The Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed by the vice-chancellor of the University of Sarajevo, Mr. Faruk Caklovica and the executive director of TI BiH, Srdjan Blagovcanin. The signing will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2011. at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office at 13:00. TI BiH invites media representatives to attend the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation and give their support to the initiative for prevention of corruption in higher education in BiH.
