USAID Assistance to citizens in the fight against corruption
Project partners: Centers for Civil Initiatives (CCI), Center for Media Development and Analysis (CRMA)Project goal: Increased participation of citizens in the fight against corruption - all project activities are structured to encourage strong and sustainable civil anti-corruption activism throughout the country and at all levels.Purpose of the activity: Civil society is representative and credible in the fight against corruption. The project aims to strengthen and promote the role of civil society, and connect it with the business sector, in order to address together institutional bodies with requirements for strong action against corruption.
Component I Monitoring and advocacy of anti-corruption legislation in the following areas:
- Conflict of interest
- Whistleblower protection
- Public procurement
- Misuse of public funds in election campaigns
Component II Involving citizens and building a culture that rejects corruption:
- Anti-corruption initiatives at the local level
- Grant support for civil society organizations (local anti-corruption campaigns, high-level campaigns)
- Anti-corruption leadership programs and assistance to informal groups
- Free legal aid to citizens
Component III Administrative management, coordination and capacity building:
- Coordination meetings with interested parties and partners (partners, sub-users, local activists)
- Capacity building for civil society organizations
- Campaign for an institutional mechanism that facilitates financing of civil society organizations
- Visibility, promotion and media coverage
