Transparency – Law on Freedom of Access to Information as a Tool for Reducing Corruption in BiH

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

Offer an alternative instrument for cooperation between citizens and competent public institutions in combating individual cases of corruption;
Informing and educating citizens, and their greater active participation in the fight against corruption;
Identifying, exchanging and processing useful information on corruption;
Cooperation with competent public institutions in processing corruption cases;
Protecting the identity of citizens who report corruption;
Providing practical information through free legal aid;
Open dialogue with the competent public institutions at the entity and state levels in order to systematically and organized fight against corruption;
Monitoring the work of competent public institutions in processing corruption cases.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

Providing legal assistance to persons who contact the Center, maintaining a database (who complained, what, which institution is involved, which authorities have shown the greatest readiness to prevent corruption);
Monthly reports for the media and the public;
Creating brochures for citizens on the importance of individual participation in the fight against corruption;
A guide for government agencies on dealing with citizens’ complaints and obligations under the Freedom of Information Act and the Conflict of Interest Act;
Cooperation with journalists, radio and TV broadcasters in creating articles on corruption.
