Prevention of conflicts of interest

Project Objectives

The overall goal of this project is to promote the transparency and accountability of public officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina by reducing instances of conflict of interest. The specific objective is: to promote the reform of legislation on conflict of interest and encourage its proper implementation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Project activities

The Transparency International (TI) chapter in Bosnia and Herzegovina will use renewed Endowment support to foster transparency and accountability of public officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina by reducing instances of conflict of interest. TI will promote the reform of legislation on conflict of interest and encourage its proper implementation by producing research and analysis on the implementation of conflict of interest laws, providing assistance to citizens reporting instances of conflict of interest, and developing and promoting recommendations for legislative reform.

TI will prepare a set of draft amendments to existing laws and advocate for their adoption. To that end, TI will hold a series of consultations with all relevant government institutions, independent agencies, and international and domestic organizations that operate in this field to define a joint approach. The advocacy campaign will include public events promoting the results of the research and analysis, media appearances and advertisements, and promotional efforts.
