SIDA Core Support

Project description:

The Embassy of Sweden in Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided to provide Core Support to Transparency International in BiH, in order to strengthen long-term efforts and approaches in the fight against corruption and the rule of law; developing new solutions to complex and serious challenges of corruption in BiH society; and enabling the sustainability and consistency of anti-corruption efforts.

Core support is based on the main strategic priorities of Transparency International in BiH, which are aimed at:

1. Protection of public goods
   • Public contracting (competitive, transparent and open)
   • Narrowed space for abuse in the public sector
   • Creation of preconditions for the business sector to operate on the principles of integrity
2. Secure integrity in politics
   • Fair and honest process
   • Appointments/employment and holding an office in the public sector free from undue influence
   • Equal access of all legitimate actors to the decision-making process
3. Enforce law and sanctions
   • Law enforcement institutions are independent and have the capacity and will to act
   • The judiciary is independent and has the capacity and will to act
   • The legal framework is in line with international anti-corruption standards
4. Defend civil society and promote integrity
   • Promoting integrity-based balues
   • Activists, whistle-blowers and journalists are free and protected to act against abuse
   • Citizens are empowered to demand accountability
   • A new generation of leaders empowered to act against corruption
