Preventing corruption and increasing transparency in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Overall objective of the project is to make progress in the fight against corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina

About the project: the key beneficiaries of the project are citizens, who are beneficiaries of TI BiH’s legal aid, but also of various databases, information on specific procedures of institutions, cases of abuse, methods of distribution of public funds, as well as positions in the public sector. Institutions that implement key anti-corruption laws, as beneficiaries of the project, will be the subject of analysis, but also beneficiaries of information based on applications submitted by TI BiH, as well as cooperation on improving the legal framework and activities to strengthen their capacities. Decision makers on key reforms are one of the important target groups, which will be involved through advocacy activities. The media also represent the direct users of the project, i.e. Its products in the form of stories, reports, analyses, data, but also through capacity building and promotion activities.

Activities and approaches will, in accordance with the needs of target groups and environment, be implemented through five groups of activities:

  1. Legal aid to citizens, CSOs, media and others in fight against corruption and exercise fundamental rights;
  2. Research and monitoring of public institutions work (collection and analysis of data on specific segments of the work of public institutions – databases on public spending, political appointments, etc.);
  3. Advocacy for the improvement of the legal and institutional framework, as well as more efficient suppression of corruption (discussions, conferences, round tables, consultation with all relevant actors, organization of direct consultations with MPs and other relevant decision-makers);
  4. Promotion of results, data and findings in the particular areas (promotional activities will aim to promote organizations and project findings from research and analysis, raise awareness of specific issues and cases of corruption, as well as create and implement public campaigns to strengthen public pressure on decision-makers to introduce and implement the necessary reforms);
  5. Strengthening the capacity of institutions in the establishment and implementation of preventive mechanisms, as well as the capacity of civil society, media and other actors (Activities include organizing trainings and workshops with target groups in order to raise awareness of their rights, as well as providing assistance to institutions in the development of their anti-corruption mechanisms).
