Let’s explore cash flows together
During the consultations with media representatives it was identified that a crucial need related to reporting on corruption was to strengthen the capacities of journalists in the field of research, data analysis and reports on public expenditures and performance of public institutions and enterprises in order to be qualified to provide quality and competent reports about those topics. To address these needs, the focus of the entire project will be placed on strengthening the capacities of journalists in these fields through training and long-term mentoring related to the development of research ideas and creation of research stories.
Therefore, the main objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of the media and journalists to provide objective, relevant and quality reports on public expenditures and corruption, while more specific objectives include:
- Development of the journalists’ skills related to the field of research and verification of data and resources.
- Development of the skills of journalists to analyze complex data and documents related to the public finances and expenditures, performance of public institutions and enterprises, and more specific topics such as public procurement, financing of political parties, audit of public institutions.
- Strengthening the cooperation between civil society and the media in addressing and reporting on irregularities in public expenditures and corruption.
- Establishment of an informal network of journalists who deal with corruption and public expenditures.
The objectives will be achieved through the training of a group of 10 to 15 journalists from different editorial departments and types of media.
