Presentation of Research on Corruption in Higher Education

Banja Luka, 9th April 2012.- Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) is organising a press conference in order to present the results of Corruption Perception Research in Higher Educationin BiH, as well as the familiarity of university personel with anti-corruption legislation in higher education.

The aim of the research has been to gather attitudes about the extent of the level of corruption in higher education in BiH, in which areas does it occur, how it manifests, and ways of fighting against corruption and preventing it.

The conducted studies represent the base for further activities of TI BiH in the area of prevention of corruption in higher education.  Above all, they present the knowledge which will be used in creation of anti-corruption plans, which six public universities have committed to adopt.

The press conference, and the research presentation, will be held on Wednesday, 11th April 2012. at 11.00 am in Banja Luka in the Hotel Bosna.

Banja Luka, December 15, 2011. – Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) invites you to the promotion of the book Anti-Corruption Source Book – Confronting Corruption: The Elements of a National Integrity System by Jeremy Pope. The Anti-Corruption Source Book  is the first edition of this book published in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Transparency International BiH (TI BiH) translated and published the book with the aim of improving literature in the field of anti-corruption, contributing to the university libraries and to the increased knowledge of anti-corruption mechanisms. Therefore, the organized promotion of the book was also the opportunity for TI BiH to donate books to universities and institutions.

The book was reviewd and presented by the academician Boris Tihi, Miloš Trifković, PhD,  Adnan Huskić, MSc, and Emir Đikić, Chairman of TI BiH presented the book.

The promotion was held on Friday, December 16, 2011. in the premises of Academy of Science and Arts of BiH.

Roundtable in the occasion of the International Right to Know Day

Sarajevo, September 27, 2011. –Transparency International BiH is organizing the round table with the aim to mark September 28, the International Right to Know Day. This significant day provides an opportunity for an open discussion about the current state of respecting the right to free access to information, as a fundamental human right and a basic assumption of strengthening the accountability of public officials.

Regarding this, the main objective of the roundtable is to provide a review of the current state of respecting the rights to free access to information, the capacity of institutions for the implementation of the Freedom of access to information act as well as on the current initiatives for improving and harmonizing the legal framework in this area. During the round table, a survey of Transparency International BiH on the implementation of the Freedom of access to information act in BiH will also be presented.

The round table will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. at Hotel Europe in Sarajevo, beginning at 11:00 and will be open for media representatives. To see the agenda of the round table, click here.

TI BiH is organizing a presentation of Anti-corruption Strategy implementation

Sarajevo, December 22, 2010 – along with presentation of findings of monitoring of Anti-corruption Strategy implementation, there will be discussion about mechanisms contained in Strategy, in order for better understandingof anti-corruption measures and policies, dialogue and cooperation between institutions, along with setting the recommendations for better and more efficient appliance of anti-corruption measures.

Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina, within its project “Monitoring of the implementation of BiH Anti-Corruption Strategy 2009-2014“, is organizing a workshop and a presentation of the first periodical report of Strategy implementation so far.

Along withthepresentation of results of monitoring, there will be a discussion about mechanisms setwithin the Strategy, in order for better understanding of anti-corruption measures and policies, engaging in the dialogue and cooperation between institutions, along with making the recommendations for better and more efficient appliance of anti-corruption measures.

Representatives of all institutions enlisted in the Strategy, such as Anti-corruption Agency, Parliamentary Assembly, Ministry of Security BiH, courts and prosecutors’ offices are expected to be present at the workshop, along with civil society organizations, media and international organizations.

The presentation will be held on Thursday, December 23, startingat 11 a.m. in Hotel Europe and it will be open for media.

Creativity vs. Corruption

Banja Luka, December 9, 2010 – In the occasion of December 9, International Anti-corruption Day, TI BiH is organizing exhibition of works that illustrate problem of corruption. The exhibition is result of cooperation with artists and students through workshops and competition.

As part of its activities aimed at celebrating December 9, International Anti-corruption Day, Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina is organizing exhibition of worksthat should illustrate corruption, that are a result of work with artists and high school students, with the aim of presenting the problem of corruption from citizens’ point of view.

Exhibition titled Creativity breaks corruption will be held in Muzicki paviljon in Banja Luka, starting at 11 a.m. It will present works that were submitted through competition, organizedjointly by TI BiH and Buka portal, along with works of high school students and artists that participated through workshops.

TI BiH strived to show different types of creative expression that introduce presence of corruption and its consequences for BiH society, and also to motivate citizens to think about this problem and its overcoming from different angles.

Awards for competition winners will be given at the exhibition, and short documentary made by high school students in cooperation with TI BiH will be also presented.TI BiH is inviting all the citizens to come and join the fight of creativity against corruption.
