Sarajevo, 23.09.2004 – OSCE organized a panel discussion on the topic of the higher education system reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At this event were present the representatives of governmental institutions, international and local nongovernmental organizations, universities and student unions.

The discussion was followed by several media houses and the discussion moderator was experienced Bosnian journalist Mr.Vlastimir Mijovic. The guest that attracted most attention was David Crosier from European Association of universities that made an analysis on the situation at the universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mr. Crosier gave short overview on the situation at the universities, relation professor-student, compared universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and European universities. Day after the discussion, the analysis was presented to the representatives of universities, governmental institutions and public.

Transparency International BiH representative, Ermina Memic-Porca, program coordinator got the opportunity to answer on the question of a refreshment student by presenting the ways of rooting out corruption from the higher education system. Mrs.Porca gave the overview of the pilot research on corruption made at the Banja Luka University (by TI BIH) and presented the future activities of the organization in the field of higher education system reform, with the focus on corruption.

After three hours of discussion, there were many issues left without answer or discussion, such as: Institutional development plan project for Sarajevo University, development strategy for the universities, postgraduation studies in BiH and abroad and many others.
