Serbian Parliament on November 2nd session enacted Free Access to Information Law, by majority of votes (Serbian radical party was against, because their amendments were not accepted). Only two amendments to government draft were accepted, all of them initiated by group of NGOs and submitted to the Parliament by Transparency Serbia (through opposition Democratic Party). However, even if the version enacted has still many weaknesses it is a great step forward in changing the culture of secrecy in Serbian public administration toward more open society.
At the same day, the Parliament failed to nominate the last member of Board for solving the conflict of interest, which was strongly criticized by Transparency Serbia. That fact means that most provisions of the Law are still impossible to implement.
